Pure Nothing

about

Formed in 2016, Sydney’s We Are Not Robots has returned with new music and a new line-up. Punishing new single, “Pure Nothing” kicks off what is promising to be a busy 2023 for the recently retooled band which now consists of Pete Konakov (vocals & guitar) and Nathan O’Hara (guitar).

Driven by a synth line resembling a speeding ambulance exploding in a sea of strobes with the heartbeat of its patient palpitating in the debris beneath, Pure Nothing is as immediate as it is cathartic. It has a sense of urgency that has become the band’s trademark - all the ferocity without losing any of their finer subtleties. This is WANR at their absolute most urgent.

Produced by Pete Konakov (Vocals and Guitars) and mixed by Ryan Cramp, Pure Nothing arrives March 2nd 2023.

lyrics

PURE NOTHING

somewhere in the middle you’ll find me
if only for a minute, you’ll have to stop and eat
because we’re counting every second you’re around
there’s no point getting older if there’s no point being found

when i lose the in-between
something else comes over me
when we wallow in the rain
pure nothing on the way
and there’s something to be said for medicating enemies
but it’s only in the morning
meditation’s not for me

keep me in the shade behind the glass
i’m too old to keep burning, but young enough to last
because i’m the only stranger that i know
that’s best friends with a shadow, that tells me where to go

when i lose the in-between
something else comes over me
when we wallow in the rain
pure nothing on the way
and there’s something to be said for medicating enemies
but it’s only in the morning
meditation’s not for me
medications killing me

We Are Not Robots Sydney, Australia

“We Are Not Robots have always had the skill of scale, making huger structures than a three-piece really should be able to. The scale’s still here tonight, but a with an added layer of riot, the sound of enormous buildings collapsing on themselves. A grand explosion.” - The Underground Stage. ... more
