about

Sydney alt rockers We Are Not Robots are back with a haunting new single and video “Just Lie Again” out March 5, with a hometown launch gig at Frankie’s Pizza on March 11.

Penned by singer/guitarist Pete Konakov, the song is an emotive anthem directed at those who have found themselves gasping for air under the crippling weight of self-doubt. It’s about lying to yourself that you’re better than you are and being aware of that misconception along the way. Musically it’s a shift toward harmonising the voices in your head, singing along to your own demise.

lyrics

Just lie again

There you go again
Throwing out those looks
I try to close my eyes
But keep getting hit with your hooks
If you're the line, i'm the sinker
And i'm in over my head
Trying to tread the water
But in the deep sea i am dead

There you go again
Pretending you don't see
That i am right beside you
Just like a best in breed
You're the lead i'm the collar
And i'm choking to death
Trying to stay respectable
But in the deep sea i am dead

Who do you think you are?
Lying, again!
We don't need your alibi
Just lie again

The scale’s still here tonight, but a with an added layer of riot, the sound of enormous buildings collapsing on themselves. A grand explosion.” - The Underground Stage. ... more
